AMA Superbike - Superbike racing is the premier class of production racing. AMA Superbike showcases modified 1000cc production bikes. It's opening round at Daytona Speedway features the big 200 mile race, a true test of endurance for both machine and rider.Throughout the year AMA Superbike racing visits various venues all over
the USA.These events include other AMA class races, such as AMA 1000cc Superstock and 600cc Formula Extreme.
World Superbike - World Superbike also features modified 1000cc production bikes with slightly different rules than AMA Superbike. Competing at entirely different locations all over the world. Every July the Laguna Seca Speedway in California has the opportunity to host the combined AMA Superbike/World Superbike races. This is the one and only visit for World Superbike in the U.S.
Moto GP - These are the most advanced motorcycles in the world. These are factory produced 990cc, 4 stroke bikes made strickly for racing and not sold to the public. However, the R&D (research and development) produced from this class of racing trickles down to the production bikes of today and tomorrow. Being the most sophisticated machines and riders around they travel worldwide displaying technology and rider skills.
SuperSport - High tech factory bred race bikes are produced strictly for the Grand prix
race circuits of the world. Their engineering filters down to production class
street motorcycles, hybrids, capable of both road and track duties. The same
sportbikes on the showroom floor are platforms for National and World Supersport
production class race series of their own.
A strong belief in the slogan, "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" means racing
rules. However, racing has rules. And these same rules effect the products they
sell. As Nascar probably once was, Supersport motorcycle racing still is
based on lightly modified production models, with DOT approved tires. To be
eligible, midsize sportbikes at your dealership operate within a 600cc limit for
engines with 4-cylinders and 750cc with 2-cylinders.

Skill - Unlike car racing where the drivers sit wedged inside protective shells, motorcycle racers are exposed to the spectators eye. Constantly repositioning their bodies from side-to-side to steer the motorcycle while precisely controlling front brake, rear brake, clutch, throttle and gear shifts. They ride within close proximatey to other riders, so close that a one hour race can be won by mere tenths of a second.
Club Racing - The best place to begin may be at a reputable riding/racing school. From there it's as basic as buying a stock sportbike and adding the modifications within the guidlines of the racing club and to the specifications of each class you choose to race. Earn points through by winning races or through experience and climb the grid from first year novice to junior
expert and finally to expert.
Privateer Racing - Having gained the experience through club racing and working ones way up throught the ranks; you will have earned the credentials to qualify for a position on the starting grid along side AMA national, factory supported racers. On one side of the spectrum finding sponsers and buying equiptment is your responsibility, but basically with that same club raced and slighly modified sportbike you are ready to compete. On the more elaborate side there are teams like the Michael Jordan sponsered race team, TEAM 23 who are on par with the best factory team set ups, i.e. as in tractor trailors, motorhome and an array of race bikes.
